I am a midwife working in south west Scotland, having qualified in November 2016. I have been writing songs since I was 16 years old and during my training began to write with a midwifery/maternity theme in mind, reflecting on my experiences as a student and also my personal experiences of childbirth and motherhood. (I have 3 children, aged 12, 10 and 6). I released my first album, ‘Songs from the Labour Ward’, in September 2016 and hope to produce a second album this year. I have also transformed many of my songs into a full stage production called ‘Labours of Love’ which I hope to produce in Dumfries during the autumn of 2018.
During what little spare time I have left, I perform with Dumfries Musical Theatre Company, enjoy baking and sewing and I write books for both children (educational fiction picture books ‘helping small people deal with big issues’) and adults (fantasy fiction).
